Saxlund Screw Conveyors

Saxlund Screw Conveyors are an essential part of many conveying and storage systems. Simple design and easily maintained, screw conveyors can successfully move most non-free flowing materials. Saxlund have a long history and experience in the design and construction of screw conveying technology. Saxlund manufacture four main types:

Standard Shafted Screw Conveyors

These are shafted with flights fully welded to this shaft and no hanger bearings. These conveyors are used for all demanding applications and up to 10m in length and 1000mm in diameter. Flights can be any steel type according to the application. When stuffing boxes are fitted, the shaft always has an adjacent wear sleeve. Drives can be with chain wheels, shaft mounted or direct driven to client’s request. Construction can be in mild steel or stainless.

Shaftless Screws

These are generally used for conveyors longer than 10m and are widely used in sludge cake conveying in waste water plants. They have their casing manufactured in 304 stainless steel and the casing is lined with UHMWPE plastic material or hardened steel runners. Systems with vertical screw conveyors can be supplied depending on the application.

Ribbon Screws

These are generally used for special cases where the conveyed material is very sticky and may otherwise cause ‘logging’ in a standard screw. We use our ribbon screws for example in our ash conditioning mixer.

Twin Screws

This can be a good feature in special applications again for some sticky materials. We use this design for example for the Pre-Press Screws in our Solids Handling Pumps for sludge cake.

Reliable, safe and economical

Screw Conveyors are an essential part of many conveying and storage systems. Being simple and robust in design and easily maintained, they provide a low cost, versatile conveying capability with many bulk solids handling applications.
